London Writers' Café
Reading slots are scarce, three per session, so you come back to workshop your next chapter and to repay the feedback you took. Lisa Goll has moderated the table since 2010 and it shows.
What it is
A fiction writers' workshop community that has met in City-fringe pubs since 2006. Three writers share up to 3,500 words a session and the room, capped around 15, workshops each piece for about 45 minutes.
When
Multiple sessions most months, in City-fringe pubs. Dates on Meetup.
Where
Clerkenwell / Barbican / Aldgate pubs
Who it's for
Writers with a manuscript in progress, and writers who want to sit in and learn how critique works before risking their own pages.
First time
Nobody makes you share or speak. You can book a seat for about £12, listen for two hours, and leave knowing more about editing than most courses teach.
